Why is the service light red on my AT&T router


Blinking Red
The WPS button can blink red when a connection error out or a session overlap is detected. Troubleshooting: If the WPS light blinks red for more than 30 seconds there is a problem. Try power cycling your modem.

What does red light on ATT router mean?
Red service light normally means an outage. Call 800-288-2020 so they could check if there's an outage. If they can't notice an outage, they'll troubleshoot with you to determine if the problem is with the modem or with the service/ATT lines, or something else.

Why is the service light red on my AT&T router?

If you've got a Blinking or Solid Red Broadband light, resetting the modem and checking cables and connections is recommended:

Reset the Modem: Press and hold the reset button located on the back of the modem for 20 sec. This may get your services up and work.You can additionally log into the modem to reset it. Check the Connections: they'll loosen if bumped into. Sometimes cables are unplugged by mistake. Remove all surge protectors, battery units, and other equipment so that there's a direct connection.

The Internet or Service light on modem is solid red

If the net or Service light on your modem is solid red, it means your modem can not detect a DSL signal. To solve this problem:

1) Restart your modem.
Sometimes merely closing and restarting your modem will reset your connection. Just unplug the DSL modem power cord and, if you have a wireless modem, turn off the power. Then let it sit for approximately 30 seconds.

Then plug the power cord on the rear and turn the modem on to start it up. If your Internet or Service light turns green, you have a connection.

2) Reset your DSL modem.
If restarting your DSL modem didn't solve the problem, you may require resetting it. To do so, insert a pin, or the end of a paper clip into the Reset slot on the back of the modem to press the Reset button. Keep the Reset button pressed for at least 10 sec. When your modem is reset, the Internet or Service light on your DSL modem should turn green, and you should have a DSL connection.
